Crown & Bridge

If you struggle with your confidence due to damaged or decayed teeth, we can help restore that confidence with our bespoke crown & bridge treatments.

What is Crown & Bridge Treatment?

Crowns and bridges are types of dental restoration treatments that aim to fix issues, be they visual or functional, that arise from decayed, damaged, or missing teeth.

A crown (sometimes called a "cap,") is an artificial tooth that is placed on top of a damaged or decayed tooth to restore both function and appearance. This is recommended for teeth with deep decay, cracks, or fractures.

On the other hand, a bridge is made up of at least three units: two crowns placed on adjacent teeth, with a pontic (or artificial tooth/teeth), that “bridges” the gap caused by a missing tooth.

What to Expect

As per our standard procedures, our dentists will start the process by conducting a thorough consultation with you. This will let them assess your goals and wants from the treatment, and allow them to craft a plan specific to you.

The dentist will then proceed to take an impression / digital 3D Scans of your mouth (teeth), and provide a temporary crown or bridge for the initial fitting. From here, the size of the artificial tooth or teeth is adjusted to make sure they fit naturally in your mouth, while removing any existing decay that you may have. This set of temporary crowns/bridges will then be sent to the dental lab for the final permanent crown or bridge to be created.

Once the permanent crowns and/or bridges are received, you can return to be fitted with your permanent crown or bridge.

F.A.Q.s

Are there any after care instructions for crowns and bridges?

When you have the temporary crown or bridge placed, please avoid chewing gum or any sticky foods until your final appointment. Do not floss around the temporary filling or crown, as it may become loose. Once the final crown or bridge is placed, you may proceed to brush and floss like a normal tooth.

Is a crown or a bridge appropriate for me?

Bridges offer cost-effectiveness and durability over time, whilst treating at least 3 teeth. Crowns are used for single teeth, and provide comfort, easy maintenance, and a natural look and feel, and are also cost-effective.

Choosing between them depends on a number of factors, such as the number and position of missing teeth, as well as your personal preferences.

What are the different types of dental bridge?

We provide a number of types of dental bridges, including:

  • Traditional dental bridger

  • Cantilever bridge

  • Maryland bonded bridge

  • Implant-supported bridge

Do crown and bridge procedures hurt?

The impression procedure is performed after the administration of anaesthesia. This means the procedure itself should be painless, though it is normal for many patients to experience tooth sensitivity and/or gum soreness for a few days afterwards.

How long do crowns and bridges last?

These are both long-term appliances, meaning they can last up to 15 years or even longer.
